A dispute between a Democratic Governor and a Republican State Legislature led to a lawsuit by the Republican National Committee Against the Democratic National Committee which was decided yesterday by the United States Supreme Court in a 5 to 4 decision strictly on party lines with all Republican appointed Justices siding with the Republicans, and all Democratic appointed Justices siding with the Democrats. The result is our Wisconsin friends must congregate in large groups to vote in the midst of a global health pandemic.

No, the problem isn’t just with the Republicans. As long as we have a two-party dominant system we are going to continue to see abuses like we just witnessed in Wisconsin, where one party gets to impose on the other party whatever nonsense they believe will either lead to their self-preservation or will appease their large corporate donors.

There is only one way to stop this scourge. Do not vote Democratic or Republican in November. Choose a third party candidate and advocate for voting reform including ranked choice voting and term limits. Make a difference and break the two party system.

In Wisconsin today, voting went from being a civic duty to a recipe for a public health disaster.
